After 90 municipal contract terminations in one month and two states abandoning its system, the surveillance company is opening compensated terminations rather than laying off workers.
Flock Safety, an American specialist in automated plate reading, offers its approximately 1,500 employees a voluntary departure device that management presents as generously compensated. The company expects a large number of applications and plans to accept most applications: without this valve, a layoff plan would be almost inevitable.
The context is that of an accelerated rejection. The Washington Post identified 46 cases where police officers allegedly hijacked Flock's technology for harassment. Florida and Texas announced that they would stop using it, and in August alone 90 municipalities had their contracts terminated, four times as many as the previous month.
Leader Garrett Langley recognizes that the most serious damage is to the internal morale of the teams. The information was first reported by Wired.
