Donald Trump wants to rename artificial intelligence and announces an "AI Force"

The US president has launched a poll on Truth Social to replace the term "artificial intelligence", while promising a dedicated force and the appointment of a new leader.

On September 19, 2026, Donald Trump proposed to give up the term "artificial intelligence", which he considered unflattering, and submitted three replacements to his Truth Social subscribers: Superior Intelligence, Extreme Intelligence and Supreme Intelligence. In the same message, he announced the creation of an "AI Force" and the upcoming appointment of an AI chief executive officer — a position left vacant since the departure of David Sacks in March 2026.

The president again dismissed concerns about model safety as partisan maneuvering, calling it a Democratic hoax, and said he would not let AI "destroy." In return, he promised to support the industry as it grows.

This release is part of a broader sequence: Nvidia boss Jensen Huang had made a similar speech to the president a few days earlier, rejecting the idea of a slowdown. It also comes at a time when the debate on existential risks is shaking up the laboratories themselves, after the mediatized departure of a researcher from Anthropic.
