Enterprise agent platforms: 69% of OpenAI installations become the main foundation, 38% for Anthropic

A VentureBeat survey of 169 qualified companies measures not who is tried, but who becomes the platform of reference. The gap between trial and deep adoption is clear.

Installing an agent platform says nothing about its actual use. The monthly VB Pulse survey of August 2026, conducted among 221 respondents, including 169 companies with at least one hundred employees, focuses on another question: among the organizations that deploy a platform, how many make it their main foundation?

Of the 75 companies using OpenAI's Agents SDK and API Responses, 52 make it their primary platform, or 69%. For Anthropic's Claude Platform, the ratio drops to 17 out of 45, or 38%. Compared to all 162 companies declaring a primary platform, OpenAI captures 33% of the market, Google's enterprise agent platform 24%, and Anthropic 11%.

Future intentions nuance the picture: 41 companies are considering OpenAI compared to 75 that use it, and 36 are considering Anthropic compared to 45 current users, a sign that the broad evaluation phase is coming to an end and that the game is moving towards consolidation.
