Gathered for World Space Business Week, managers from Eutelsat, Esri and Space42 describe the shift from an analysis tool to systems that decide.
At the World Space Business Week in Paris in September 2026, several officials from the sector described a change in the nature of the embedded and ground AI. Mariam Kaynia, Director of Data and Information at Eutelsat, summarizes the evolution: technology now allows an end-to-end work, where it was limited to point optimizations.
For Beau Legeer, Imaging and Remote Sensing Director at Esri, the main consequence is the lowering of entry barriers, which expands the market beyond image processing specialists. Isobel Porteous, of EarthTraq, and Waleid Al Mesmari, of the Edge Group, detailed the integration of AI coprocessors on board spacecraft, which moves part of the analysis into orbit rather than ground.
Hasan Al Hosani, Managing Director of Space42 Smart Solutions, illustrated the gain in time between the acquisition of an image and the production of a workable report, using the example of earthquake analysis. In watermark, the question that goes through these exchanges is the role left to humans: the supervisor of a system that decides, rather than an analyst assisted by a tool.
