Meta puts Muse on macOS and lets its agent work in Mac apps

Meta's assistant is coming to the computer: it manipulates files, mail, calendar and notes in native applications, after explicit authorization from the user.

Meta has made its Muse assistant available for download on macOS. Already launched on mobile and the web at the beginning of September, the application is now moving to the computer, where the agent can intervene directly in native applications: files, messages, calendar, notes and email. The arrival was announced by Alexandr Wang.

The system is based on prior consent: access to data is done by voluntary activation, and the agent requires validation before performing an action deemed sensitive. Meta also added this week the ability to make voice calls, a feature that its competitor Instinct introduced at the same time.

The launch is part of a competition that is intensifying around consumer agents, presented by part of the sector as the next computer interface. On mobile, Muse had quickly risen to the top of the American App Store rankings.
