Amazon could buy up to $60 billion worth of Qualcomm hardware for its data centers

The two companies are partnering on several generations of chips designed for inference. Amazon receives vouchers allowing it to acquire $4 billion in Qualcomm shares.

Qualcomm announced on September 8, 2026 a product collaboration with Amazon for multiple generations of components for artificial intelligence data centers. The agreement covers customized, inference-load-oriented silicon as well as optical connectivity solutions up to 1.6 Tbps and beyond.

A financial package backed by volumes

According to regulatory filings, Amazon is receiving warrants for $4 billion worth of Qualcomm shares. These shares are released in tranches, conditional on the completion of commercial agreements and purchases of up to $60 billion of server chips and related technologies.

The market reacted with a rise of about 10% in Qualcomm shares. For the manufacturer, long identified with mobile, the rallying of a second cloud giant lends credibility to its goal of $15 billion in revenue in data centers by fiscal year 2029.
