Marketed since September 16, Snap's augmented reality glasses work without a phone and include Specs Intelligence, an assistant that tracks the agenda and tasks.
On September 16, 2026, Snap opened the sale of its Specs, augmented reality glasses sold for $2,195 on the company's dedicated website. It is the culmination of more than ten years of attempts, which began with the Spectacles equipped with a camera in 2016.
The device is autonomous: it runs its applications without being connected to a phone. Each lens has a built-in screen, for a 51-degree digital field of view, with overlays directly in the lens. The home assistant, Specs Intelligence, works in concert with the iPhone and Mac and draws on the user's connected services — calendar, goals, to-do lists — to anticipate needs: meeting preparation, travel planning, contextual reminders.
The gamble remains risky. The Specs weigh about three times more than a regular pair of sunglasses and offer a narrower digital field than competing models, while the price puts them well above consumer smart glasses. Snap had already racked up losses on unsold inventory after overestimating demand for its previous models.
