ugo Nova: a Japanese semi-humanoid designed as much for working as for producing data

Announced on September 16, the two-armed robot from the company ugo is entirely designed and manufactured in Japan. Its particularity: transforming human work into training data.

The Japanese company ugo presented on 16 September 2026 ugo Nova, a semi-humanoid robot mounted on wheels with two arms, designed and manufactured entirely in Japan. Serial production is announced for 2027.

On the material side, the machine lifts up to 10 kg with two arms (4 kg per arm maximum), lasts about six hours of autonomy and moves in all directions thanks to mechanical wheels. His arms are driven at a rate of 100 Hz, and cameras are installed on the head and hands. A NVIDIA Jetson Thor module ensures inference directly on board, without relying on the cloud.

Collect the gesture, not just execute it

The robot's main interest lies in its dual function. Remoted by bilateral controllers or a virtual reality helmet, it synchronizes the video of the operation, the state of the joints, the couples, the position of the effector and the commands sent. These multimodal sequences then feed the training of the "physical AI" models — and the same machine is used to run the model once it is trained.
