No need to choose his window: Claude now routes the requests himself between conversation, agent work and artifacts. Two office tools accompany the change.
On September 16, 2026, Anthropic announced the merger of Claude Cowork and the classic cat into a single interface, presented as "one Claude". Launched in January as a separate space for long tasks — browsing a file folder, producing a report — Cowork forced users to decide upstream where to do their work, an arbitration that many considered confusing. Now, conversation, agent mode and Artifacts coexist in the same window, and it is the model that decides how to process the request.
The deployment starts with the Pro and Max formulas in the coming weeks, before being extended to the Team and Free offers. Enterprise accounts will be served last, with their administrators to be notified at least 30 days before the switch.
Anthropic accompanies the operation of two new office automations: Claude Docs, who helps write documents, and Claude Slides, who prepares presentations. The Claude Design function now works directly inside conversations.
