UBTech delivers its companion humanoid: 13,361 pre-orders, from $16,500 to $136,000

The first deliveries of the UWORLD U1 began on September 16 in China. The robot is sold explicitly for emotional companionship: it does not clean or cook.

On September 16, UBTech opened home deliveries of its UWORLD U1, a companion humanoid available in three versions: the U1 Lite, a 24-degrees-of-freedom office bust sold for around 119,800 yuan (about $16,500); the U1 Pro, a full-body 88-degrees-of-freedom for 169,800 yuan; and the U1 Ultra, a high-end commercial variant that climbs to between 880,000 and 990,000 yuan, or $121,000 to $136,000.

Pre-orders accumulated since the beginning of June have reached 13,361 units, all channels combined — a volume that represents about 12.4 times the sales of adult-sized professional humanoids made by UBTech over the whole of 2025, i.e. 1,079 units. The company is targeting an annual capacity of 50,000 units. On the technical side, the Pro is based on a Rockchip RK3588 processor delivering 200 TOPS, the Ultra reaches 2,070 TOPS, and the so-called dual-brain architecture has been trained on Huawei Ascend chips, with a lip-sync announced at 20 milliseconds.

The positioning is remarkably restrictive, and its CEO Zhou Jian assumes it: the machine is designed for emotional company only, it does not clean or cook. Interaction data remains stored locally, without having to send it to the cloud. Two limits temper the enthusiasm: a battery life of two to four hours, and a production line still dependent on manual work — the implantation of the eyebrows, done by hand, remains a bottleneck at scale.
