Unveiled at the IMTS show in Chicago, the seventh generation of cobots combines a redesigned control box with the PolyScope X system and explicitly aims to deploy physical AI on the shop floor.
On September 14, 2026, at the IMTS show in Chicago, Universal Robots presented the seventh generation of its collaborative robot platform. The package combines a completely redesigned control box, a learning console and a tool flange with the PolyScope X operating system, with the stated ambition of bringing industrial AI out of laboratory demonstrations.
Three arms join the g-Series range, named after their payload in kilograms and reach in millimetres: UR10g-1750, UR17g-1300 and UR18g-950. The most revealing part of the direction taken is the new tool flange, which delivers data, power and safety directly to the tool: it feeds the high-bandwidth cameras and sensors that perception models need in real time, eliminating the usual web of cables.
An SP7 Smart Panel interface module completes the package, with safety-compliant manual guidance, LED lighting, and three configurable buttons that can trigger PolyScope X Smart Skills — allowing you to program directly at the tool level rather than from the console.
