The laboratory rents capacity in a Georgian data center still under construction, from the owner of Rumble, close to the Trump administration.
Anthropic entered into a contract with Rum Group for the calculation of $13.7 billion over six years, revealed on September 14, 2026 by The Information. The agreement concerns capacity rental in a data centre in Georgia, whose construction is not complete. Rum Group operates the Rumble video platform and maintains close links with the Trump administration.
The timing of the site remains uncertain: Northern Data had referred to a start-up at the end of 2026, while Rum Group indicated in August that it did not have the necessary funding for construction and equipment. As such, the contract resembles both a financing mechanism and a capacity purchase.
It completes a series of agreements signed by Anthropic for the past year with Google, SpaceX and smaller suppliers like Nscale. Taken together, these commitments represent at least 14.8 gigawatts of capacity and up to $517 billion deployed over the decade — an order of magnitude that puts the race for infrastructure far beyond research spending alone.
