XPeng implements its humanoid assembly line: the first IRON comes out walking

The Chinese manufacturer inaugurated its humanoid robot factory in Guangzhou on September 8. The first IRON assembled left the line walking on its own, without teleoperation.

XPeng formalized the commissioning of its humanoid robot production lines on September 8, 2026. The highlight of the announcement is the demonstration: the first IRON out of the assembly left the line under his own control, without remote control. The manufacturer presents the installation as the first automated line dedicated to advanced humanoids, with more than 80% of the automated core processes and quality systems taken over from its electric vehicle business.

On the machine side, IRON claims 76 degrees of freedom on the whole body and 21 degrees per hand, a flexible mesh structure intended to reconcile human silhouette with safety, and three Turing chips designed internally totalling up to 2,250 TOPS of useful power. This on-board computing capability allows you to run the company's physical AI model directly on the robot.

The announced schedule places mass production at the end of 2026, with a first deployment in the group's shops and campuses, and then a marketing and deliveries in China and abroad in 2027. The financial context follows: XPeng's robotics subsidiary has raised approximately $900 million in commitments for a post-money valuation around $6.3 billion, with Alibaba and Tencent among strategic investors. Prices remain unknown.
