Tripo AI raises about $446 million for its native 3D models

The funding round, led by MPCi, is to finance a dedicated computing infrastructure as the start-up unveils its new Tripo P2.0 model.

The Chinese start-up Tripo AI, specialized in the 3D generation by IA, announced on 1 September that it had raised about three billion yuan (446 million dollars) in Series B and B+, in a tour led by the MPCi fund with the participation of several financial and industrial investors of video game and entertainment. The funds must be used to develop native 3D foundation models, expand the computing infrastructure dedicated to training and inference, and accelerate the marketing of products.

The announcement coincides with the presentation of Tripo P2.0, the latest generation of its native 3D model, which would introduce an unprecedented capacity in the sector: directly generate a quad topology (quad topology), a format much more usable for gaming and animation studios than the raw triangular mesh usually produced by this type of tools.
