Schaeffler plans to have up to 2,000 humanoids in its factories by 2032

The German equipment manufacturer is partnering with the British company Humanoid, with a first deployment in Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt in December.

The agreement covers the deployment of 1,000 to 2,000 humanoid robots supplied by the British company Humanoid at Schaeffler's production sites around the world by 2032. The first installations are planned between December 2026 and June 2027 in two German plants, in Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt, for crate handling and internal logistics tasks. The supply component provides for up to two million actuators to be delivered until 2031.

Other timelines are emerging in parallel. South Korean startup RLWRLD collects movement data from workers in hotels, logistics sites and retail — with Lotte Hotel Seoul, CJ Logistics and Japan's Lawson chain — and is aiming for industrial deployment in 2028, the year Hyundai Motor plans to install Boston Dynamics humanoids at its Georgia plant. Samsung Electronics has announced the conversion of all its sites to "AI-driven factories" by 2030.

The limits remain tangible. Where a chambermaid cleans a room in forty minutes, a humanoid still takes several hours; hotel professionals estimate that the machine could take care of 30 to 40% of the work in the back kitchen and events, no more. Korean unions warn of the effect of deployment on employment and the transmission of know-how, and call for upstream negotiation.
