The presentation publisher, valued at $2.1 billion for $100 million in annual recurring revenues, is absorbing a design startup backed by the same investors.
Gamma announced in August 2026 the acquisition of Lica, a design start-up financed by Accel, for an undisclosed amount. Lica's two co-founders, Priyaa Kalyanaraman and Purvanshi Mehta, are joining Gamma to set up a research laboratory dedicated to design — the operation is therefore as much about team recruitment as it is about buying technology.
The merger was facilitated by a proximity of shareholding: Accel and South Park Commons already supported both companies. Lica had raised $4 million in 2024. Gamma, on the other hand, reached a valuation of $2.1 billion for about $100 million in annual recurring revenue.
The new lab's program is based on two axes: truly multimodal presentations, and styles that can be adjusted to the target audience rather than a single template applied to all contexts. Gamma says he wants to explore visual communication formats beyond the slide.
