Keenable raises $26 million to index the web for agents, not humans

Founded by a former head of research at Yandex, the startup operates an index of more than 100 billion documents already used in production by several AI labs.

Keenable announced on August 25, 2026 a $26 million seed tour led by Accel, with Conviction Partners and several individual investors. Its bet: a search engine whose results are not calibrated for a human drive but for a software agent that must ingest and cross-check large amounts of pages.

The distinction is not cosmetic. Google classifies and shapes for a look that runs through a result page; an agent needs volume, freshness and structured access. Keenable claims an index of more than 100 billion documents and a research API already used in production by several AI laboratories, as well as an agreement with the synthetic voice company Gradium. A Web Query Language, supposed to combine information from multiple sources into a query, is announced.

The founding team brings together Andrey Styskin, former head of research, AI and cloud divisions at Yandex, and Matthias Petri, a German researcher in artificial intelligence. It has 15 engineers divided between the United States and Europe, and aims to double by the end of the year.
