Stability AI raises $76 million from the three major record companies and Electronic Arts

Universal, Sony Music, Warner, EA and AMD Ventures are funding a Series B round that brings the total raised by the publisher of Stable Diffusion to $232 million.

Stability AI completed a $76 million B series on August 25, 2026, bringing the total raised since its inception in 2019 to 232 million. The composition of the tour is more meaningful than the amount: Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group and Warner Music Group appear side by side alongside Electronic Arts, AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures.

Seeing the three majors fund an image and sound generator would have been unlikely two years ago. The shift has taken place in stages since Prem Akkaraju's arrival in 2024: agreements with Universal Music and Electronic Arts in October 2025 and Warner Music in November. Funds must expand the company's range of "creative production" tools and develop its professional services.

The training data litigation is not extinguished. Stability AI won a partial victory over Getty Images in the UK in the copyright field, and a similar procedure remains pending in the United States.
