The Series C values the Californian manufacturer at $1.5 billion and is intended to finance larger platforms, designed for power-hungry and compute-intensive payloads.
Muon Space completed on August 20, 2026 a series C of $250 million led by Eclipse Capital, with Google and Salesforce Ventures among the participants. The company, based in Mountain View, did not comment on its valuation, but a source placed it at $1.5 billion — enough to join the series of "space unicorns" that appeared this year.
Larger platforms for embedded computing
The lift must finance the transition to larger satellite platforms for more demanding tasks in terms of electrical power and computing capacity. "As more sectors rely on space-based intelligence, communications and computation, this investment allows us to accelerate the next generation of orbital infrastructure," says Jonny Dyer, co-founder and CEO.
In five years of existence, the company has placed eleven satellites in orbit, three of which this year for a low-orbit forest fire monitoring system developed with the non-profit organization Earth Fire Alliance. More than 50 satellites are being developed for customers, including 13 already scheduled for launch in the next 12 months; A dozen corresponds to unannounced U.S. commercial and government contracts, says President Greg Smirin. The recently opened plant in San Jose is dimensioned to produce up to 500 satellites per year by 2027, ten times the previous capacity.
