Released in developer preview on August 13 under the MIT license, DeepSeek's agent harness surpassed 95,000 GitHub stars in two days.
DeepSeek posted on August 13, 2026 DeepSeek Harness (dsh), an agent execution environment written in TypeScript and distributed under MIT license. The project crossed the 95,000 stars and nearly 8,800 forks in about 40 hours, one of the fastest adoption curves ever seen on GitHub for a development tool.
The architectural bias holds in one sentence: everything is a plugin. The model adapter, the tool register, the session log, the execution sandbox and up to the loop of the agent itself are replaceable components. The base is based on Cordis, a compositional framework whose authors claim a "spatio-temporal" approach to the assembly of modules.
The tool launches via npx or from sources with Node.js and pnpm, and opens a web interface locally. DeepSeek warns that this is a rapid iteration preversion, with expected compatibility failures.
