RIBA AI Report: nearly three in four architectural practices use it

The British institute’s 2026 survey found that 74 per cent of agencies use AI on at least some of their projects, and that one in five has integrated it into several of its processes.

The Royal Institute of British Architects' annual survey on artificial intelligence confirms a clear trend: 74% of agencies report using AI on at least part of their projects. Progress is continuing from one edition to the next, distinguishing this technology from previous wave of tooling, often confined to a minority of structures.

However, the depth of use remains uneven. One agency in five states full adoption, i.e. integration into several internal processes, while the majority makes partial or ad hoc use of it. The applications identified go a long way beyond the visualization of the outline to which AI is often reduced into architecture: they also cover project management and day-to-day business management tasks.

For most agencies, the RIBA notes that the question is no longer whether to adopt these tools, but how to integrate them without losing control of the project's authority, ensuring the reliability of deliverables and demonstrating measurable value.
