Agents Week: Cloudflare aligns its entire platform with AI agents

In five days of announcements, the hosting provider presented a runtime dedicated to agents, an adapted Zero Trust security model, a browser for agents and an evolution of the MCP protocol.

From August 3 to August 7, 2026, Cloudflare dedicated an entire week of announcements to AI agent infrastructure. The opening focused on the runtime foundations: a runtime called @cloudflare/computer, Python-JavaScript interoperability via Workers RPC, a billing API providing programmatic visibility into costs, and TCP/gRPC support for voice agents.

The suite moved the focus to tooling and security. The publisher formalized a development cycle specific to agents, with live tracing and replay of executions, as well as distributed local debugging. On the security side, a Zero Trust access model designed for agents, identity-aware analytics to spot suspicious behavior, and WriteGuard, which provides fine-grained controls on MCP servers.

The last part of the week was more forward-looking, around what Cloudflare calls the agentic Internet: WebMCP to make a site discoverable by agents, a browser optimized for them, an evolution of the Model Context protocol in version 2, and a search engine designed to be queried by machines rather than humans.
