Apple Intelligence arrives in China in December with iOS 27.3, powered by Alibaba Qwen — but without the new Siri

Apple opens a beta developers on November 4th: in China, Alibaba's Qwen model will feed Siri, writing tools and visual intelligence.

Apple confirmed on October 31st that its first General AI features will be available for Chinese users with iOS 27.3, expected in December. A beta version for developers will be available on November 4. To circumvent the absence of its own models in the Chinese market, the company relies on Qwen, the Alibaba model, which will operate inside Siri, writing tools and visual intelligence.

Partial launch

The first batch includes live translation, writing tools, visual intelligence, photo editing tool Clean Up and Genmoji. On the other hand, Siri AI, the fully reconstructed assistant presented at the WWDC 2026, is not part of the launch, nor is Apple's latest news.

The Chinese internet regulator had validated this editing as early as July. The partnership with Alibaba had been mentioned for a long time without a precise timetable: it finally gives Apple a response in a market where the competing smartphones of Huawei, Xiaomi or Honor already include local AI assistants.
