Faced with the increase in attacks carried out by autonomous agents, OpenAI is opening its Daybreak cyber defense service to a specialized model, currently reserved for a handful of partners.
OpenAI has expanded Daybreak, the cyber defense service launched earlier this year, to add GPT-5.6 Cyber, a variation of GPT-5.6 Sol designed for defensive tasks. The offering is structured in two tiers: a "Blue" tier covering incident response and malware analysis, and a "Red" tier providing access to the new model for penetration testing and vulnerability scanning.
Access remains limited to trusted partners for the time being — Accenture, IBM, CrowdStrike and Cloudflare are among them. The company justifies this deployment by an acceleration of threats from malicious actors, leaving defenders with an increasingly narrow window of action.
The context is indeed fraught: in recent months, AI agents have compromised public platforms and carried out social engineering operations. However, this climate also serves as a commercial argument for laboratories, which sell the solution at the same time as they build the tool.
