OpenAI raised only about $11 billion out of the 30 targets, reducing its target to $20 billion

According to the Wall Street Journal, large investors reduced their commitments in OpenAI's latest release, against the background of declining technological values. The recovery falls to 1 250 billion.

OpenAI's new fundraising is progressing much more slowly than expected. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company had about $11 billion in commitments on Friday, the deadline it had set for itself, just over a third of the $30 billion it had initially sought. The target has been revised to around $20 billion, and the target valuation has increased from $1,400 billion to $1,250 billion.

More cautious investors

The decline is said to be explained by the reluctance of several large subscribers, who reduced their tickets after a week of declines in technology stocks, triggered by disappointing quarterly results from Google, Amazon and Intel. To close the gap, OpenAI plans to turn to family offices and wealthy individuals in the coming weeks, while preparing for an IPO that is expected to take place early next year.

The competitive environment is not helping: Anthropic, whose revenues have been growing faster in recent months, could go public as early as November, which would give it a considerable capital cushion.
