Salesforce buys Rune Technologies, IA's military logistics specialist, for $375 million

Valued 127 million ago, Washington's start-up joined Missionforce, Salesforce's defence branch, which grew by 80% over a year.

According to two sources cited by Resilience Media, Salesforce is paying $375 million, in cash and stock, for Rune Technologies. Founded in 2024 by David Tuttle and Peter Goldsborough, the start-up had raised only $30 million, notably from Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures and IQT, the CIA-linked fund, for a latest valuation estimated at $127 million by PitchBook.

Rather than drones or weaponry, Rune has focused on field logistics. Its TyrOS software tracks inventory and helps units determine what they need, when, and how to deliver it. The company won a $99 million contract with the U.S. Army this summer.

The operation is intended to bring Missionforce, Salesforce's AI offering for the military, closer to front-line units, where decisions are made under time and connectivity constraints. Until now, Salesforce's defense contracts, including a $5.6 billion contract with the U.S. Army, have focused on administration and planning.
