Granola starts vocal dictation on Mac, free and unlimited, to compete with Wispr on his field

The meeting note-taker adds a voice input that can be used in all applications: a key, you talk, the cleaned text is displayed. Wispr had come the other way a few months earlier.

Granola, known for his assistant who writes the meeting reports, launched a dictation function on Mac on October 29. Just keep the Fn key and talk: the tool formats the words, removes the hesitations and inserts the final text into the open app, whether it is an email, an email, a note or a quick chatbot. The function is included in all formulas, including free, without word caps, and is expected to arrive soon on iOS and Windows.

The movement responded directly to Wispr, a dictation specialist who had added a meeting note holder to its application in August. Both start-ups are valued at $1.5 billion and $2 billion respectively. Other vocal actors, such as Fireflies, Speechify or Monologist, have followed the same path: after a period when everyone focused on one use, all now seek to gain more value from the speech they capture.
