The Octoverse report unveiled at GitHub Universe shows a share of PR initiated by an agent that went from 17% in March to 40% in September. Copilot Fusion routes each task to the most suitable model.
GitHub published his Octoverse report at its Universal Conference on October 28. The most striking figure concerns agents: in September, 40% of the pull requests began with a draft drafted by an agent, compared with 17% in March. Over 12 months, the platform recorded 17.9 billion pushes, more than 2024 and 2025 combined, 34.3 billion commits and 1.3 billion pull requests merged, for more than 225 million developers.
Copilot Fusion, a model switch
The new product is called Copilot Fusion: a system that decides, for each code task, which model to use according to the needs of reasoning, generation, debugging or tool call. According to GitHub, his Max version reaches two points of Claude Opus 5.5 Max on the index of artificial analysis code agents, half cheaper and 40% less time per task.
On the offer side, GitHub Enterprise customers now access all Copilot functions without a separate subscription, paying only the IA credits consumed.
