The South Korean designer of the RNGD chip completes its D series, led by the Korean National Growth Fund, and targets more than 40,000 chips produced in 2027.
FuriosaAI, founded in 2017 in Seoul, announced on 28 October the closing of a series D of 620 million dollars (820 billion won), bringing its valuation to about 2.9 billion, compared to 735 million in its previous round. The largest contributor is the Korean National Growth Fund, with 280 million; American Infinitum leads the 110 million brought by foreign investors, alongside QUDA Capital (Singapore), Cisco Investments, Jericho Capital and Worldline Capital. Existing shareholders put $125 million back in the pot.
The company designs accelerators dedicated to inference, built on its home TCP architecture. Its second generation, RNGD, entered mass production in January: 20,000 units are planned this year and more than 40,000 next year. Samsung SDS, the LG group for its EXAONE and Upstage models, are among its customers.
The money must be used to increase the volumes of RNGD, to expand the software stack and to accelerate the third generation of chip, developed with Broadcom, to position itself against Nvidia on inference in company.
