The new agreement with the GSA extends delivery to all Claude products and to local and tribal communities, without minimum commitment. Estimated saving: $1 billion for public money.
Anthropic is expanding its partnership with the General Services Administration (GSA), the U.S. government's purchasing centre. The new agreement grants 40% discount on Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API, and for the first time on all sales surfaces: direct purchase now, then via cloud providers in the coming months. The reduction also includes states, local authorities, tribal governments and territories.
Administrations are not subject to minimum expenditure commitments and will pay for use. Anthropic's total saving is about $1 billion. According to the company, nearly 500 American public organizations already use Claude; Claude for Government's weekly active users have been multiplied by about eight since February, and use in federal civilian agencies by twenty in a year.
Claude for Government, available since September 30 at the FedRAMP High clearance level, is intended for sensitive unclassified work. Claude Enterprise is in the process of authorizing FedRAMP Moderate. In parallel, Anthropic is launching an accompanying programme to help agencies deploy the tool, such as resorption of processing delays, management of forms and modernization of old software.
