Grok's "Odyssey": Musk's full movie becomes a series, including a first seven-minute episode

Three months after announcing a feature film "historically accurate" generated by IA, xAI publishes seven minutes of images and now talks about a series. TechCrunch salutes visual coherence, not emotion.

In the middle of the summer, Elon Musk had promised that Grok would produce a complete and "historically accurate" adaptation of Homer's epic, in response to Christopher Nolan's version of which he had criticized the casting. The result presented this weekend is more modest: seven minutes of video, renamed "Episode 1 of our Odyssey series". The project was conducted with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, using the Grok Imagine video generation tool.

For TechCrunch, the extract shows above all the progress of the generative video in terms of visual and narrative continuity over a longer period: it is not as ugly as feared. But the critic Anthony Ha the judge without breath and rhythm, without anything that makes him want to cling to the characters. The comparison with Nolan's film, released in July, shot in six countries with thousands of technicians and actors, triumphed in theaters and favorite Oscars, recalls the gap that still separates a technical demonstration from a cinema work.
