Claude's creator has officially filed his IPO. The prospectus reveals a tremendous growth, a giant accounting loss and colossal computing commitments.
Anthropic submitted its Form S-1 to the SEC on Monday, October 26, the first formal step in its IPO. The company, which is incorporated as a public benefit corporation, plans to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ANT", with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley as lead managers. Neither the number of shares nor the price range have yet been set; the financial press is talking about a listing the week of November 16, a raise of more than $100 billion and a valuation of between $1,500 billion and $2,000 billion.
Extraordinary figures
In the first half of 2026, Anthropic reported $16.3 billion in revenue, compared with $1.2 billion a year earlier. The net loss reached $80.7 billion, but about $72 billion was due to a non-cash accounting charge related to the revaluation of convertible financing instruments. The company had $112.4 billion in cash at the end of June and now has 11,900 customers spending more than $100,000 per year, compared to 950 a year earlier.
The document also details the extent of the infrastructure commitments, to Google, Amazon, Broadcom and SpaceX/Nvidia, for a total of $245 billion in minimum future obligations. On the governance side, the Long-Term Benefit Trust is maintained and the company does not plan to pay dividends. Rare for a prospectus, the risk section explicitly mentions the "potentially catastrophic" dangers of advanced AI, including models that would seek to preserve themselves or resist their shutdown.
