Tested by 1,000 employees earlier this year, OpenAI's corporate agent is widespread, with 30 AI engineers seconded to teams to identify tasks to automate.
Uber is expanding ChatGPT Work, the enterprise agent that OpenAI launched in July 2026, to all of its roughly 30,000 employees worldwide. The group first tested it with 1,000 finance, operations, and product employees. According to Sumanth Sukumar, vice president of engineering, about 80% of the pilot's participants were non-engineers. They used it to analyze operational data and draw recommendations, adapt training materials to different markets and languages, or build interactive dashboards to organize their day.

The company will monitor the actual use and workflows created before making more strategic decisions. The amount of the contract has not been disclosed; the deployment illustrates OpenAI's offensive against Anthropic on the enterprise AI market.
