Andy Jassy: AWS's capacity is sold for 2026, almost entirely for 2027 and already largely for 2028

Invited to an Andreessen Horowitz podcast, Amazon's boss claims that AWS's large computing blocks are reserved for two years, apart from a part kept for the demand on the fly.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy described a long-term shortage at Amazon Web Services during an episode of Andreessen Horowitz's podcast broadcast on Friday, October 23, noted by The Information. According to him, all of the 2026 capacity is already sold, that of 2027 is "largely", and a "good part" of 2028 is also committed.

Jassy said that AWS is keeping a reserve for on-demand usage, particularly for EC2 and for Bedrock, its AI model inference service, but that the large volumes have all found takers. These comments add to the signs of a demand for computing that exceeds supply at the major cloud providers, a few days before the publication of Amazon's quarterly results.
