Nvidia invests more than $105 billion in a giant data center dedicated to OpenAI

Nvidia, OpenAI and SB Energy are teaming up to build an 8-gigawatt site in Ohio, financed to the tune of more than $105 billion by the chipmaker.

Nvidia announced funding in excess of $105 billion to secure the land, power supply and structure of a new 8 gigawatt data center site in Ohio, developed jointly with OpenAI and SB Energy. This project is in line with the strategic partnership announced in September 2025, by which Nvidia committed to gradually investing up to $100 billion in OpenAI as its systems are deployed.

This new agreement marks a concrete step forward after several months when the mega-contract between the two companies remained largely theoretical, with no payments officially confirmed until early 2026.
