Presented as "opportunistic" financing before the introduction on the stock exchange, this tour would value OpenAI at $1,250 billion before fresh money, with a computing capacity agreement negotiated in the Emirates.
According to sources cited by CNBC, OpenAI is on track to close a round of financing of up to $30 billion, based on a valuation of $1,250 billion excluding new capital. Investors from the United Arab Emirates are said to be leading the operation alongside the Coatue fund. The company presents it as bridging financing, seized because investors solicited it in September, pending an IPO.
Signatures targeted by the end of October
OpenAI reportedly said on Thursday that it wants to collect commitments before the end of next week, with the final amount remaining open. In parallel, a trade deal would be discussed to get more computing power in the UAE; the company is targeting around $600 billion in cumulative compute spending by 2030.
The IPO prospectus was filed confidentially with the SEC in June, with no date announced: CFO Sarah Friar mentioned a listing in 2027, while Sam Altman judged in September the wrong time. Anthropic, which raised $65 billion at a valuation of $965 billion in May, is preparing a listing that could value it between $1,500 billion and $2,000 billion.
