ServiceNow and Nvidia Launch Arc, a Desktop AI Agent that Works Continuously Under OpenShell Monitoring

Available on Mac, Arc manages emails and Teams meetings locally on RTX Spark machines; its rights are set by ServiceNow and applied to the hardware by Nvidia.

ServiceNow and Nvidia made available on October 21, Arc, an agent presented as a personal assistant capable of carrying out long daily tasks. Announced in May, it currently works on Mac, with the Windows version expected. Arc relies on messaging, meeting reports and Microsoft Teams to bring forward the actions to be carried out, accumulates memory and skills over time, and requests a remote leading-edge model only for the most complex tasks, keeping data locally as much as possible. It is optimized for new RTX Spark stations in Nvidia.

Safety applied to silicon

The main argument of both companies is the management of the agent. The rules are defined in ServiceNow's Super Intelligence Control Tower and then applied to the execution by OpenShell, Nvidia's open source tool that limits agents. The "AI Passport" announced the previous week made the link: if it is revoked, the current task remains isolated in a sandbox to be audited, without interrupting other authorized actions. According to both partners, BlueField chips can enforce this revocation at the hardware level, to prevent compromised software from overtaking.
