Sol, Terra and Luna: OpenAI is rolling out its new family of models following the US authorities’ approval regarding national security risks.
OpenAI has made public the three versions of GPT-5.6: Sol, its most powerful model; Terra, an intermediate option; and Luna, positioned as the economic alternative. The deployment, initially restricted to a group of trusted partners at the end of June at the request of the US administration, is now being extended to the general public.
Sol claims cutting-edge results in coding, cybersecurity, and science, while consuming fewer tokens than its predecessors — a direct argument about the cost of operating at scale for businesses.
