The meeting note-taking specialist has raised $320 million in non-dilutive funds, backed by its marketing expenses, and claims 40 million users.
Otter.ai, the tool that transcribes and summarizes meetings, announced on October 20, 2026, $320 million in funding from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund (CVF). This vehicle has a particularity: it does not take shares in the company, but is remunerated from the revenue generated by the customer acquisition expenses it finances. Until then, the company had only raised about $50 million in total, with its last round dating back to 2021 according to PitchBook.
Growth, competition and retention
The money is to be used to conquer large companies, international expansion and product development. Otter, which surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue last year, says 40 million people used its service, up from 25 million a year earlier — without publishing active user figures or churn rates.
The market is saturated: Fireflies.ai, Granola, Read AI, but also Calendly, Wispr and Superhuman (which bought Fathom) are competing for the same customers. Like its rivals, Otter is looking to go beyond simple transcription to transform meeting content into automated actions in the company's tools, with summaries sent before, during and after meetings.
