Anthropic opens its first data centre in Canada, powered by wind energy in Nova Scotia

Anthropic will lease capacity at the EverWind site in Point Tupper, a project worth over 10 billion Canadian dollars linked to wind farms.

Anthropic has reached an agreement with EverWind to occupy a data centre in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, its first such facility in Canada. EverWind plans to invest more than C$10 billion in the campus and wind projects to power it, the largest private investment in the province's history.

Jacob Glick, Anthropic's head of public policy in Canada, assured that the company would ensure that the bill is not passed on to other subscribers or water resources, and that local communities benefit, recurring criticism of data centers. The deal is part of a rapid ramp-up: Anthropic spent $7.33 billion on computing and infrastructure in 2025, three times more than in 2024, and is preparing for an IPO in the United States.
