The ‘ambient’ assistant listens in on conversations to learn its user’s habits and initiate actions without waiting for instructions. A dedicated connected device is planned.
Californian startup Mistlabs has made its Ambi system available to everyone on Mac and iOS 18-compatible Apple devices, while announcing a $26 million pre-Series A funding round led by Luminous Ventures and Chinese manufacturer Huaqin Technology. Its CEO, Peter Mo, claims AI that can act before the user even thinks to ask.
Agents who follow the meetings
Ambi builds a profile of its user from the exchanges captured on its devices, and the context follows from one screen to the next. With "Routines", a recurring task is assigned to several agents at once: during a meeting dedicated to the competition, they can verify the claims live, compare the offers and prepare a proposal, then continue to report the missing information once the session is over. In the coming months, Mistlabs plans a negotiation function between the agents of two participants, framed by permissions set by each.
Audio storage is disabled by default. The fundraising will fund a standalone portable device, which is supposed to give Ambi more context about its environment, for which a waiting list is open.
