Google AI Studio now allows anyone to create their own Android apps for free using a prompt

With just a Google account, you can describe an app to the AI and install it on your phone with a single click, via a private section of Google Play, without going through the public Play Store.

Google announced on Tuesday, October 13, that anyone with a standard Google account can create personal Android apps in Google AI Studio. All you have to do is describe the desired app; the tool generates it, suggests features along the way that might have been forgotten, and then allows you to adjust it slightly or start all over again.

The app installs with a click on the user's device from a private area of Google Play, without appearing in the public Play Store. Until now, AI Studio's app builder was reserved for professional developer accounts and required a PC connected to the phone in USB debugging.

From sharing with friends and family to publishing

In the coming months, these apps will be able to be shared with family and friends. If one of them is successful, Google promises a gateway to a professional developer account to distribute it worldwide. ZDNet sees it above all as an alternative to small single-use apps (timer, habit tracker, converter) full of ads or paid for by subscription.
