The Santa Monica-based start-up produces architectural, structural, MEP and fire safety plans, but points out that a qualified architect or engineer must approve everything.
Blueprints AI, a Santa Monica start-up, markets software that uses sketches, photos, PDFs and project files to produce execution documents: architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy compliance, fire safety and interior design plans. The civil engineering and landscape components are reserved for the enterprise offer.
Integrated codes and standards
The tool says it takes into account the International Building Code, the International Fire Code, NFPA standards, ADA accessibility requirements and local planning regulations. The generation itself takes a few minutes, although the complete delivery of a file can take several hours, after a two-week configuration phase for each client. The company advances projects "up to ten times faster" than traditional drawing, a figure presented as indicative.
The key point is that the documents cannot be filed as is. An architect or a chartered engineer must review them and take professional responsibility for them before applying for a permit. A second generation of the model is scheduled to be presented at TechCrunch Disrupt from October 13 to 15.
