Founded by graduates of Tsinghua and Jiao Tong Universities, the start-up that pools heterogeneous chips for inference has secured a Series C funding round of $344 million from Lenovo, Tencent and Baidu.
Infinigence AI (Wuwen Xinqiong) announced on October 12 a Series C of 2.3 billion yuan, or about $344 million. The start-up, created in 2023 from valuation work by Tsinghua and Jiao Tong universities in Shanghai, thus brings its cumulative funding to 4.3 billion yuan: two records, according to it, for the Chinese segment of "native AI" infrastructure.
Public, industrial and venture capital funds
The round brings together public funds (Hangzhou High-Tech Zone funds, Social Security Fund, Zhuhai Industrial Group), strategic investors such as Lenovo, Tencent and Baidu, and financiers including Sequoia China and Qiming Venture Partners.
The company positions itself as an intermediate layer between chips and applications: a platform that distributes computing power between 16 types of chips on the market, a "token production" service for agents, and sectoral solutions for companies. It claims 37,000 petaflops of deployed capacity and a 37.5% reduction in the cost per token in inference, an asset in a country forced to coexist with national chips and foreign hardware.
