Physical AI: Japan’s Omron acquires US industrial PC manufacturer OnLogic for $675 million

The automation specialist aims to combine its expertise in precision control with OnLogic’s hardware to build physical AI platforms and expand in the United States.

Omron announced on Oct. 13 the acquisition of OnLogic, which designs, manufactures and sells industrial PCs, as well as its parent company Interlogic, for $675 million. The deal was signed on Oct. 10 and is expected to close around January 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.

The Japanese group presents the operation as a lever to develop its physical AI services in industrial automation: it intends to combine its high-precision control technologies with OnLogic's computers, designed to operate as close as possible to machines, and to expand its American customer base. OnLogic will remain a standalone entity, retaining its brand, its direct sales model and its management team. In May, the Omron Robotics subsidiary had already signed a partnership with Italy's Comau for production automation. Omron shares were flat in Tokyo at the time of the announcement.
