Life Biosciences is closing an $80 million Series D to develop an AAV therapy capable of partially rejuvenating aging eye cells.
Life Biosciences announced a fundraiser of $80 million in D series, bringing its total funding to approximately $240 million, to advance its AAV vector gene therapy. It delivers three reprogramming factors (OCT4, SOX2, KLF4) directly into the eye cells to partially reset their aged epigenoma without touching their DNA.
A second AAV vector encodes an oral activable molecular switch, allowing the therapy to turn on or off according to clinical needs. The ongoing Phase 1 trial targets two aging-related ocular pathologies: open-angle glaucoma and non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy.
