AP-NORC Poll: 64% of U.S. Adults Believe AI Development Is Too Fast

The poll published on 8 October reveals a concern shared between parties. Human control and the protection of workers are widely supported priorities.

According to AP-NORC, 64% of American adults believe that AI is progressing too fast, compared to 8% who find it too slow. This perception concerns 76% of Democrats and 54% of Republicans.

About eight in ten people want governments to prioritize human control and worker protection. These findings describe U.S. public opinion at the time of the survey, not an objective measure of speed or technological risk.
