Claude is coming to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides: Anthropic launches the public beta of Claude for Google Workspace

A side panel allows Claude to view the open file and edit it on the spot, with each change saved by default; connectors also create Google files directly from the chat.

Anthropic is opening an add-on for all paid subscriptions in public beta that integrates Claude into Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The wizard appears in a sidebar, sees the document and the current selection, and applies its changes directly to the file. In Docs, it retouches a sentence or title without breaking the formatting, and suggests heavier rewrites in the form of cards to accept or reject. In Sheets, it writes formulas, mounts crosstabs and native charts, and can pass a range of cells through Python for cleanup before putting the result back in. In Slides, it creates slides from deck templates and flags items that overflow or overlap.

Two modes and the same tools

By default, each modification awaits the user's agreement; an "accept all" mode leaves Claude to move on alone. The panel includes the account's templates, connectors and skills, and the Enterprise controls (compliance APIs, encryption keys managed by the customer, OpenTelemetry audit export) apply. At the same time, new connectors, also in beta, allow you to start from the conversation to create or edit Google files, while respecting existing sharing rights. The extension is installed from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
