Sabi raises $50 million for a cap that turns thoughts into AI queries

Backed by Khosla Ventures, the start-up is developing a non-invasive cap fitted with 100,000 sensors, coupled with its own brain model, to control AI agents without the need for a keyboard or voice commands.

The startup of brain-machine interfaces Sabi a obtained $50 million with Khosla Ventures, Accel, Initialized, DST Global and Kevin Weil, former product manager of OpenAI. She wants to make it a cap capable of translating brain activity into text or instructions for AI agents, without implants.

An EEG chip designed with TSMC

The device features approximately 100,000 sensors each based on a one-millimeter chip, custom made with TSMC and capable of capturing signals without direct contact with the scalp. In parallel, Sabi drives his own "brain foundation model" on neural recordings.

The company had already presented a first prototype in the shape of a hat. Switching to a hat is a daily use: interviewing an assistant or triggering an agent action without typing or talking. The reliability of such non-invasive reading remains to be demonstrated outside of the company's demonstrations.
