Cyber Mission: Anthropic puts Claude and his engineers at the service of eleven critical infrastructure defenders

Electrical networks, water, transports: Anthropic joins CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, Dragos or Deloitte to correct faults with Claude, and launches a free open source scanner.

On October 8, 2026, Anthropic presented a program called Cyber Mission, which is divided into two parts. The first, the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program, brings together eleven partners — Accenture, Booz Allen, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, Dragos, Hitachi, Insane Cyber, Nozomi Networks, Palo Alto Networks, PwC and Rockwell Automation — responsible for protecting power grids, water systems, transportation, administrations and industrial (OT) environments. Anthropic provides them with its most advanced Claude models, engineers seconded to the site and its threat intelligence work; several of these partners are already using Claude to patch vulnerabilities.

A free scanner for open source projects

The second part, OSS Scanner, offers free and voluntary vulnerability scanning to open-source software maintainers, with a true positive rate of over 90%. At the same time, Anthropic funds several organizations in the ecosystem, including the Python Software Foundation, the Apache Software Foundation, OpenSSF, and Alpha-Omega.

The initiative extends a program launched in June 2026 for U.S. communities, which the company says has reached more than half of the states. Anthropic plans to expand it to other sectors and partners in the coming months.
